Maura endeavors to bring the dignity and honor of the southwestern Native Americans into her art. Often, today's southwestern art is highly commercialized and, in ways, demeans the tragic road to modernity that this people were forced to trod. She strives to evoke the nobility of their spirit in a genre reminiscent of past Italian masters.

Maura works her magic with bronze in the solitude of her studio in fertile western Colorado where the desert meets the Rocky Mountains. The results have been magnificent as evidenced by the completion of her Trilogy of Life.
